The colour and grain of the natural hardwood varies, but after about 6 months of exposure to UV light, the wood matures to a sliver-grey patina. Do not be alarmed if small cracks appear in the end-grain of timbers. They are perfectly natural and you need not worry, as the moisture in the atmosphere rises the timber will return to normal.
Stains and spillages on the wood should be absorbed with kitchen paper as soon as they occur and then washed away afterwards with soapy water. General grime accumulates on furniture and this should be washed away with a light soapy detergent. Any residual marks may be removed with a little light sanding from very fine sandpaper. Extending tables and folding chairs should be regularly opened and closed to prevent moving parts seizing up and the application of a little lubricant on a cloth passed over the runners will help to smooth the process. Timber Furniture may be pressure washed but the hose must be operated from a distance of at least 50 cm and extreme and gentle care must be applied around the joints and dowels. Do not blast it at high pressure or close range as this will damage the grain of the timber. Simply wash over the surface to remove any layer of oxidisation.
Surface Preparation: Your furniture has already been factory treated with an oil preservative, however we do recommend after unpacking and assembly of your furniture, thoroughly wipe clean your furniture removing any dust particles, then lightly re oil the furniture and let dry.
IMPORTANT: After oiling wipe off excess oil, then allow the oil to dry for (4) hours, and then wipe off again with a clean rag removing any excess oil that may not have penetrated into the timber. Repeat wiping off excess oil if necessary.
Your furniture is now protected however repeat applications of the hardwood timber oil may be required. Before re-oiling check your furniture for any residue build up, if this occurs a light sanding may be required. Note: The frequency of oiling will vary according to the climatic conditions in your area and direct exposure to the elements your furniture is subjected too. We recommend Karri Gum timber needs to be oiled a minimum of (3) times a year.
NOTE: IF KARRI GUM furniture is neglected with prolonged unprotected exposure to the elements this will cause the timber to discolour to a silvery grey, checking and hairline cracks may appear if in the event your setting does discolour to restore the timber, sanding and oiling will be required. We recommend the furniture be sorted with undercover protection during wintertime and wet season.
NOTE: ALL TIMBER FURNITURE GOES THROUGH A SETTLING IN PERIOD, FASTENERS MUST BE TIGHTEND REGULARLY. DO NOT LEAVE FASTENERS UNTIGHTENED THIS COULD CAUSE FURNITURE DAMAGE.
KARRI GUM timber is kiln dried under strict guidelines. Upon purchasing your furniture small hairline cracks may appear, this is part of the drying process of this particular timber species, these cracks will not deter the durability of the furniture, 3% shrinking may occur in this species of timber.
WARNING: Staining on Tuscan or light coloured pavers may occur from sap leeching and dust particles if the timber is not cleaned properly and weathered correctly, hose down your furniture and clean thoroughly before placing your furniture on light coloured pavers.

All the Stainless Steel used in the construction of furniture is 304 grade. Stainless Steel is an iron alloy in which the resistance to corrosion is increased through the addition of chrome and nickel. Surface oxidisation deposits are accelerated by chlorine and air-borne chemicals but do not affect the durability of the furniture. Chlorine and salty sea air is Stainless Steel's biggest enemy and can cause a type of corrosion that is known as pitting. For that reason it is recommended that in locations near the sea the metal should be Electro-Polished where optional.
Since stainless steel is not corrosion-resistant by definition, it is advisable to clean the furniture regularly with a standard stainless steel cleaner to minimise the contamination of the surface from airborne pollutants. This avoids the formation of surface oxidisation deposits (brown spots). Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Cleaner may be required if furniture has not been regularly cared for.
High grade Aluminium is preferred by manufacturers for its strength, its low weight and its resistance to corrosion. Most of GNR’s Aluminium ranges have a polyester powder paint finish applied statically and embedded by a baking action. The advantages of this procedure are the endless possibilities in the variety of colour and the protection to the metal.
Regularly cleaning with a mild soapy solution to remove surface dirt is all that is necessary. Avoid using abrasives.
Aluminium garden furniture won’t rust, but it can suffer from aluminium oxidation. This will change the colour of the metal over time, but won’t affect the strength of it – in fact, it actually makes it stronger.
If you want to maintain the original colour of your furniture, make sure you clean it regularly by hosing it down, or keep it covered during the winter months to maximize its longevity. Top tip an easy way to extend the life of your metal garden furniture is to polish it with a clear car wax after you’ve finished cleaning it. The wax will make it more water resistant.
ALL WEATHER WEAVE
GNR’s extensive All Weather Weave designs include different types of highly-technical woven materials which are soft to the touch, tear resistant, UV resistant, weather resistant and durable. Wicker furniture is made from a High Density Polyethylene woven over a high grade aluminium frame that is not impervious to long term weather exposure. Synthetic woven furniture needs minimal care to keep it looking as good as new. They clean easily with a soapy detergent. The brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner may be used to remove dust or embedded food crumbs. Care must be taken not to damage the weave with sharp objects. Wicker furniture provides a unique aesthetic; however, the ravages of time can take quite a toll on this form of furniture.

Complementing our outdoor furniture as fully outdoor resistant, this synthetic leather assures the highest level of dimensional stability and stretch resistant for maximum comfort and luxury. It is UV resistant and UV reflective to prevent heat buildup keeping it soft. It also repels water. For best results clean spills and soils immediately. Ordinary dirt and grime can be removed with mild soap and water. Do not use chemical detergents or solvents to clean. Various forms of textilene is used for furniture of which some are from French manufacturer Ferrari. The polyester fibre is PVC coated and then woven. The fibres are then melted together in order to create an exceptionally form fast, stretch and tear resistant fabric. Apart from its exceptional mechanical strength, it has a high chemical resistance. The synthetic coating guarantees an extremely high weather and UV resistance. The fact that there is no moisture absorption, results in rapid drying, maximum stain and mould resistance. Do note that leaving staining products for long periods on textilene could could cause staining.
Textilene needs minimal care to keep it looking as good as new. Simply use soapy water to wash down. Avoid the use of abrasive products and solvents.
GLASS & CERAMIC
All glass for tables are tempered. Ceramic & Glass is naturally resistant to staining making it highly suitable material for outdoor tables.
Glass is fragile and care must be taken to avoid chipping or damaging. Care must be taken to avoid scratching surfaces with cutlery, china and decorative items. It is recommended that tablemats and coasters are used on glass tops. Glass surfaces should be cleaned with standard glass cleaners.
To keep cushions looking good it is recommended that they are stored indoors overnight. Most stains on the material can be spot cleaned with mild soapy water. Simply remove dirt by scrubbing with cool water (under 30 degrees) and natural soap. Do not iron, spin or tumble dry. To prevent creasing replace the covers while still damp and dry in the open air. Cushions must be completely dry before storing in a well-ventilated area over winter.
